2110-4105

Nintendo Nintendo Switch

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

Error 2110-4105 means your Nintendo Switch failed to connect to your Wi-Fi network. The console found the network but could not complete the connection. This blocks online play, downloads from the eShop, and software updates.

Affected Models

  • Nintendo Switch
  • Nintendo Switch Lite
  • Nintendo Switch OLED

Common Causes

  • The Wi-Fi password saved on the Switch is incorrect or was recently changed
  • The Wi-Fi signal is too weak because the router is too far away
  • The router's security settings (WPA2/WPA3) are not compatible with the Switch
  • The router has too many connected devices and is not assigning a new IP address
  • The DNS settings on the Switch are outdated or incorrect

How to Fix It

  1. Delete the saved Wi-Fi network and reconnect. Go to System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings. Select your network, choose Delete Settings, then reconnect and re-enter your password.

This clears any saved connection data and forces the Switch to create a fresh connection.

  2. Restart your router. Unplug it from the wall, wait 60 seconds, and plug it back in. Wait for it to fully reconnect before trying again on the Switch.

A router restart clears its connection table and can resolve IP assignment failures.

  3. Move the Switch closer to the router and retry. Thick walls, floors, and appliances can block the Wi-Fi signal. Try connecting from within the same room as the router.

The Nintendo Switch has a relatively short Wi-Fi range compared to phones and computers.

  4. Set the DNS manually. Go to System Settings > Internet > Internet Settings > your network > Change Settings > DNS Settings > Manual. Set Primary DNS to 1.1.1.1 and Secondary to 1.0.0.1.

Cloudflare's DNS (1.1.1.1) is fast and reliable. Switching from your router's default DNS often fixes connection problems.

  5. Try switching the router's security mode to WPA2-PSK (AES) if it is currently set to WPA3 or a mixed mode. Log in to your router (usually 192.168.1.1) and look under Wireless Security settings.

Some older router firmware has WPA3 compatibility issues with Nintendo devices.

When to Call a Professional

Error 2110-4105 is a network configuration problem. You should be able to resolve it at home without any repair. If your Switch cannot connect to any Wi-Fi network at all, the Wi-Fi hardware may be faulty — contact Nintendo support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I use 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi for my Switch?

For most situations, 5 GHz is faster and less congested — use it if you are close to the router. 2.4 GHz has a longer range and penetrates walls better — use it if the router is in another room. The Nintendo Switch supports both frequencies.

Can I use a wired connection with my Nintendo Switch?

Yes, but only when the Switch is docked. You need a USB-to-Ethernet adapter (available online for about $15 to $25) plugged into the dock. Wired connections are more stable for online gaming and faster for downloading games.

Why does my Switch connect fine sometimes but fail other times?

Intermittent Wi-Fi failures often point to a weak signal or router congestion. The more devices connected to your router, the more likely occasional connection failures become. Assigning the Switch a static IP address can reduce these random failures.
